Connects through MCP

Schedule social posts with Gemini CLI

Gemini CLI supports MCP (a standard way for AI assistants to use apps), so it can talk to Postoni directly. Add the server once and ask Gemini to draft and schedule posts while you work. Every post waits as a draft until you approve it.

  • Unlimited posts on every plan
  • Cancel anytime
  • Open-source core

Set it up in four steps

  1. 1

    Get your Postoni API key

Sign up at postoni.com, connect your channels, and copy your API key from Settings.

  2. 2

    Add the server

Run: gemini mcp add --transport http --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" postoni https://postoni.com/mcp. Add the user scope flag to use it in every folder.

  3. 3

    Or edit settings.json

Under mcpServers in .gemini/settings.json, add an entry named postoni with httpUrl set to https://postoni.com/mcp and a headers entry with Authorization set to Bearer and your key.

  4. 4

    Confirm and ask

Start gemini, type /mcp to check that postoni is connected, then ask for posts. They land as drafts in Postoni.

Configuration for Gemini
gemini mcp add --transport http \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  postoni https://postoni.com/mcp

Drafts wait for your approval

Anything Gemini creates lands as a draft on your Postoni calendar. Approve it, edit it, or bin it.

Prompts to try

Talk to it like a coworker who knows your calendar. A few to start with:

  • Summarize README.md into a LinkedIn post and an X post, and schedule both for Thursday at 11am.

  • What is scheduled in Postoni this week? Move anything on Saturday to Monday morning.

  • Draft a Telegram channel update and a Discord announcement for our v1.0 release.

Gemini and Postoni FAQ

Where does Gemini CLI store the config?

Project settings live in .gemini/settings.json in your project, and user settings in .gemini/settings.json in your home folder. The gemini mcp add command writes to the project file unless you pass the user scope.

Will Gemini CLI publish posts without asking me?

Not by default. Posts created through Postoni's MCP server land as drafts in your calendar, and nothing goes live until you or a teammate approves it. If you trust a workflow, you can allow auto-publish for it later.

Does this work in the Gemini app?

This guide is for Gemini CLI, which supports custom MCP servers. If you use another Gemini surface, check whether it lets you add a remote MCP server with a header or OAuth.

Is my API key safe in settings.json?

It is stored in plain text, so keep it in your user settings rather than a committed project file. You can rotate the key in Postoni Settings at any time.
