Connects through MCP

Announce what you ship, straight from Cursor

Cursor can read your diff, so it is well placed to write the announcement. Add Postoni as an MCP server (a standard way for AI assistants to use apps) and Cursor's agent can draft posts for your channels. You review them in Postoni before anything goes out.

  • Unlimited posts on every plan
  • Cancel anytime
  • Open-source core

Set it up in four steps

  1. 1

    Copy your Postoni API key

Sign up at postoni.com, connect your channels, and copy the API key from Settings.

  2. 2

    Open the MCP config

In Cursor, open Settings and the MCP section and add a new server. This edits mcp.json, either in your home .cursor folder or in your project's .cursor folder.

  3. 3

    Add the Postoni server

Add a server named postoni with the url https://postoni.com/mcp and a headers entry where Authorization is set to Bearer followed by your API key.

  4. 4

    Ask the agent to post

Check that postoni shows a green status, then ask Cursor's agent for posts. Drafts appear in your Postoni calendar.

Drafts wait for your approval

Anything Cursor creates lands as a draft on your Postoni calendar. Approve it, edit it, or bin it.

Prompts to try

Talk to it like a coworker who knows your calendar. A few to start with:

  • Look at the changes in this branch and write a launch post for X and LinkedIn. Schedule it for Monday at 9am.

  • Write a Dev.to draft explaining how we built this feature, with code snippets from src/search.

  • Draft a short Bluesky and Mastodon post about the bug we just fixed. Keep it friendly and under 280 characters.

Cursor and Postoni FAQ

Project or global mcp.json?

Use the project file if only one repo should post, and the global file to have Postoni everywhere. If you commit the project file, move the API key into an environment variable so it does not end up in git.

Will Cursor publish posts without asking me?

Not by default. Posts created through Postoni's MCP server land as drafts in your calendar, and nothing goes live until you or a teammate approves it. If you trust a workflow, you can allow auto-publish for it later.

Does it work in Agent mode only?

MCP tools are used by Cursor's agent. Switch to Agent in the chat panel and Cursor will ask before it calls a Postoni tool, unless you have turned on auto-run.

Which developer networks are supported?

Postoni posts to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, Dev.to, Hashnode, Medium, Reddit, Discord, Slack, Telegram and more, 30+ networks in total.
